Our chooks are now laying eggs!!!!

Under our ecohut we have a chicken coop with three chickens. They are called janice, Isobelle and Darryl, named after the last three principals of the school. They are heritage chickens. We have a Rhode Island red, a white wyndote and a dorking chicken.

They love the children and enjoy the scraps from our garden.

Our Stream Group 2010

We have completed our termly monitoring and once again found Poorman Stream to be in excellent health. The water temperature was 7 degress, clarity nearly 1 metre, conuctivity 140 and the PH was 5.5. All excellent results.
We then found plenty of macro invertebrates. The bug finding is always the best part!

Electric Fishing

Our Enviro Club went electric fishing at Poorman Stream. We had Lawson from Fish and Game using his electric fishing wand. This stunned the fish in the stream to allow them to be caught in a net and put into a container for us to see what fish live in our stream.
We found a lot of fish. Many eels, a large fresh water crayfish and many small brown trout.
We know that our stream is very healthy and supports a lot of life.
